Protesting Your Taxable Values

Several of our citizens have raised questions about the appraised value of their property being increased for the 2018 tax year.  Based on the complaints we have heard this has happened in both Atascosa and Medina Counties.  We would like to remind our taxpayers that you have a right to PROTEST the value set by the Appraisal District, but you must follow the procedure set forth in the Texas Property Tax Code.

Courtesy Timeline for Protests being filed:  You should file your "Notice of Protest" with the CAD'S ARB no later than 30 days after the Appraisal District mailed the Notice of Appraised Value.

Copies of "Property Taxpayer Remedies" concerning protests are available at the City Hall for your convenience.  Please remember that if you do not protest your value in a timely fashion, you lose your right to have your value changed by the Appraisal Review Board, and therefore, will see your taxes increase.  If your taxes are "frozen" your tax bill will not increase.
