Surrender Policies

The City of Lytle Animal Care and Control facility is NOT a no-kill shelter. Animals not adopted or fostered may be euthanized. The Animal Control Officer and Director make this decision. Call us at (830)709-3832 if you are considering surrendering your pet. Often times, our staff can offer other options to placing your pet.

If you live in the city limits of Lytle you may surrender an animal to the facility after paying $30 per animal.  This fee must be paid at the Lytle City Office before the animal can be accepted at the facility.

Surrenders will not be accepted after 5 pm Monday through Friday, weekends, or city holidays.

When you surrender an animal you are asked to sign a form stating that you are giving up all rights to that animal and that the animal may be euthanized. Giving up an animal to surrender is not an easy decision for the owner or for the facility. Serious thought should be given before this action is taken.

ALL SURRENDERS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER, DIRECTOR AND AVAILABLE SPACE.
