[ARCHIVED] URGENT: ERCOT REQUESTS STATEWIDE CONSERVATION

URGENT:  ERCOT REQUESTS STATEWIDE CONSERVATION CPS ENERGY URGES ALL ITS ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS TO CONSERVE.  The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and CPS Energy are encouraging all residential and business customers to reduce their electric use as much as possible starting immediately and for the rest of this week to help prevent electric emergencies and/or electric outages. This request is for the PEAK HOURS OF 2:00 PM UNTIL 7:00 PM. Residential customers are encouraged to do the following during these hours: set thermostat 2 to 3 degrees higher; avoid using large appliances such as washers, dryers, ovens; use fans along with your air conditioner; set pool pumps to run at other times of the day; close shades and blinds on windows exposed to direct sunlight; and charge electric vehicles after 9:00 pm. Business customers are encouraged to do the following during peak hours: minimize the use of lighting and electric equipment as much as possible and consider shutting down or reducing non-essential production processes.
